Despite a very chequered past, Zodiac have gone to great lengths to rectify any faults in this cleaner and statistics that I have received... Zodiac MX8 Pool Cleaner Review
  • Works well with low flow and energy efficient pool pumps
  • Goes up pool walls
  • Internal gears to get it out of corners
  • Wide cleaning path
  • Easy latch to open and remove debris stuck inside the cleaner
  • Needs to be installed correctly to make sure the cleaner lasts
  • Not for all debris types (watch the review video for advice on this)

Ease of install:

This has been a big issue for these cleaners. It’s easy to hook up the cleaner so it works but it is a little more complicated to set it up with the correct flow rates. If you don’t want to pay for a professional to come out and install it for you then you need to sit down, be patient and read the instruction manual properly!

Warranty:

This cleaner had a lot of problems when it first came out. Some of them were poor initial design and some were installation issues. It is a credit to Zodiac that they continue to sell this cleaner with a two year warranty. It speaks volumes about the confidence that they now have in the product modifications they have made. A two year warranty is a good warranty for a pool cleaner of this style and Zodiac have quite a reliable warranty department.

User friendly:

All suction cleaners have issues with debris getting stuck inside them at some point. What I like about this cleaner is that Zodiac acknowledge this and have designed an easy to pull apart latch that allows you to open the cleaner up and remove debris easily. Putting aside the slightly complicated installation, the cleaner is quite user friendly.

Appearance:

Its a mean looking machine!

Helpful hints:

We have possibly mentioned the installation process too many times, but I can’t stress it enough. Do it right and check with the person you are buying it off that it suits the types of debris you have and you should be very happy with this cleaner.

In summary:

Despite a very chequered past, Zodiac have gone to great lengths to rectify any faults in this cleaner and statistics that I have received from Zodiac indicate that warranty claims are now down below 1% which are good stats for a suction cleaner.
